Course Overview

This course provides essential knowledge about asbestos, a hazardous material still found in many older buildings. Learners will gain an understanding of what asbestos is, where it may be located, and the risks associated with exposure. The training highlights the health effects of asbestos fibers, including life-threatening conditions such as asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer.

The course also explains how asbestos is managed safely, the role of risk assessments, and the responsibilities of employers and employees under current regulations. While it does not qualify learners to work directly with asbestos-containing materials, it equips them with the awareness to recognise risks and follow correct procedures when asbestos is suspected.
